And So We Begin Again!

Welcome to the second incarnation of Ana’s Waters, the official blog of Shining Lakes Grove, ADF!  Here’s hoping that using WordPress will give us fewer technical problems than the last site we used.

It was always my hope that other SLuGs would contribute their own regular articles to the blog, and that didn’t happen last time.  I’m told that it’s much easier to give permissions for different people to post to a WP site, so I remain hopeful.  Honestly, I hate having any asp[ect of our Grove’s Internet presence come across as “The Rob Show”.  We have so many amazing multi-talented people in SLG who have interesting things to say about what we do, and everyone else is missing out on that.

Speaking of people with different talents than I do, consider this a standing invitation to anyone whose Web design sense isn’t stuck in 1997 (as mine is) to help with the layout for this site.

So what will my own (more or less) weekly contributions look like?  I’m still not sure at this point.  The last iteration of the blog was aimed mainly at non-members who wanted to know what we in SLG do that’s different from what other Groves or Pagans do, but i never got the sense that there was much interest in that.  Of course, if all I want is readership and comments, I can go hostile (“Why SLG Is Great And Your Group Sucks: A 53 Page Summary”), but that’s definitely not where I want to go.  I’d rather offer hope and inspiration, even if my attempts at hope and inspiration come off as hostile from time to time.

So until next week, I’ll leave you with my favorite accomplishment of 2012, Pagan-wise, and look forward to seeing you all here in the coming months.

The Portal Connections

Why are there so many songs about Portals
And what’s on the other side?
Portals are just wood, or shiny hot gasses,
Or vessels with liquid inside.
So we’ve been told and some choose to believe it
I know they’re wrong, wait and see.
Now we will open the Portal connections:
The Water, the Fire, and Tree.

Who said that every well was somehow connected
To waters so far below?
Somebody thought of that and stared down inside it,
To look at the magic flow.
What’s mystifying about this deep scrying?
And what do we think we might see?
Now let us open the Water connection,
To join with the realm of the Sea.

Have you been in a trance; and have you heard voices?
I’ve heard them calling my name.
Are these the same sounds that now fill our circle,
The crackling of the flame?
Smoke from the Fire is like our desire,
It carries our voices up high.
Now let us open the Fire connection,
To join with the realm of the Sky.

Now we have Fire and Well,
But how do we join them together?

So many worlds exist, and so many spirits,
How many friends might there be?
Some worlds are very far, but all worlds connect to
The root or the crown of the Tree.
Once we’re united, they are all invited
To come to this place where we stand.
Now let us open the World Tree connection,
To join with the realm of the Land.

And now we stand at the center of all worlds,
May all the Three Realms be at hand!
Laa, da daa dee da daa daa,
La laa la la laa dee daa doo.
